Rebar or steel reinforcement used in concrete to compensate for its low tensile strength. The steel used for this purpose in reinforced concrete structures is in the form of wire or rebar and is called rebar steel.
Rebar steel classification:
In different countries, rebar steels are produced with different standards and in each standard, there is a specific classification related to the mechanical properties of steels. In Iran, most of the rebar steels produced by the Isfahan Steel Plant comply with the Russian standard. Rebar steel produced in Iran (according to the Russian standard) is divided into three groups:
A1 Steel is of smooth type and its yield strength and tensile strength are 2300 and 3800 kg / cm2, respectively.
A2 steel is a ribbed type with a yield strength of 3,000 and a tensile strength of 5,000 kg / cm2.
A3 steel is also a ribbed type with a yield strength of 4,000 and a tensile strength of 6,000 kg / cm2.
Manufacturers' standards also vary in terms of the diameter of the rebars. In the Russian system used in Isfahan steel mills, rebars up to 40 mm in diameter are made.
